10 Things to do when you’re not happy with your bedroom Decor

Struggling with your bedroom decor? It may happen sometimes.

Ideally, your bedroom should be decorated solely for the purpose of providing comfort. After all, this is supposed to be a relaxing space. It’s where you unwind after a long day, where you go to fall asleep with your favorite show playing in the background, and where you wake up every morning.

However, sometimes your room doesn’t feel welcoming, and it might be because you’re unhappy with your bedroom decor. Wondering what the reasons could be?

Here are a few things to do  when you are  not happy with your bedroom decor, along with some ideas on how to make your bedroom decor better!

1- Declutter

You’re not happy with your bedroom decor because it’s just not done right… You may have a lot of clutter in your bedroom, ruining the room’s atmosphere. There may be a broken lamp that hasn’t been working for a while or an old armchair stuffed with clothes. To begin, discard anything you don’t use or don’t need in your bedroom. By cleaning and organizing clutter, you can make a significant difference in your living space.

2- Power of paint

In any space, the choice of colors plays a significant role in creating a cozy atmosphere. You might not be satisfied with your bedroom decor because you are getting tired of seeing old bedroom paint colors. So, repainting your master bedroom accent walls is probably one of the easiest things to do when fixing your bedroom decor! A fresh coat of paint will bring life back to your bedroom and give it an entirely new look.

However, you should choose colors for your master bedroom accent walls based on what makes you feel comfortable. There are people who love warm colors, while there are others who prefer lighter colors. Balance is important, though.

3- New sheets and covers

It’s important to change the sheet sets and pillows  on your bed every year or so just to keep things fresh and have a new look. If you’re not happy with your old sheets or comforter, it’s time to replace them!

Also, if your sheets are comfortable, you’re more likely to sleep better. So, look for 100% long-staple cotton weaves. Do not buy ones made of synthetic materials. It’s easier to sleep in the natural materials since they are soft and breathable, but if you sleep in the synthetic material, you will feel sweaty and hot all night.

4- Add a throw blanket on the bed

Even if you cannot afford luxury bedding, there are still plenty of options available to you. An additional way to add luxury decor to the bedroom is to add throw blankets. Because throw blankets come in so many colors, patterns, and textures, they are almost like layers in a bedding set. When it comes to bedroom decor, throws should remain neutral in color and tone, but you can opt for bright colors.

5- Add a rug

A large area rug is necessary for every room, and your bedroom is no exception. The lack of a rug in your bedroom may come out as bland or empty outlook decor. So, adding an area rug around your bed is a must if you have wood or other hard flooring in your bedroom, as they add warmth and coziness. Even if your bedroom is carpeted, a contrasting area rug will add dimension and definition to the room – making a space feel cohesive.

6- Add texture

Adding textures to a room can create a cozy atmosphere.

It is possible to add textures to your bedroom’s decor in several ways.

An accent wall is a common place to add texture to a room. You can experiment with different paint colors or textures on your wall. You can use cladding , timber panels , or  wallpaper to add texture to your bedroom’s decor. It is also possible to use mismatched pillows and throws as finishing touches.

Similarly, bedding with textured edges, headboards with tufted details, and wall art can also bring texture to a bland room. You will be able to achieve a good impact on your bedroom decor by properly incorporating these elements.

7- Adjust Lighting

Making simple changes to how your bedroom is lit can significantly impact your room’s overall decor. The best light source is a soft light rather than a harsh, bright overhead light. You can use dimmers to control the brightness of your bedroom’s lights. Besides, install room-darkening blinds, shades, or drapes if natural sunlight is too bright in your room.

8- Add an accent chair

Bed, dresser, and nightstands are not the only things you need in your bedroom. Consider adding an accent chair too. Even though it’s not as vital as other pieces, the right design can add sophistication to a bedroom. There are various types of chairs that you can add, such as armless slippers, rocking chairs, wingbacks, chesterfields, rounded swivel chairs, and even chaise lounges. Go for one that matches the vibes of your room.

9- Rearrange

Sometimes, all it takes is a little rearrangement to refresh your room! In most cases, we are just tired of seeing the exact layout of furniture all day long. Hence, rearranging furniture can do wonders for bedroom decor without costing you anything.

Switch the places where your chairs, tables, and accessories are located.

Reposition your bed in a different location from where it usually is. Place the bed next to the window if it is practical so you can view the sunrise immediately upon waking up. Make your dresser a nightstand by placing it next to your bed. Simply tweak and edit your space, and you’ll start liking it again.

10- Add flowers and plants

In case your bedroom decor no longer appeals to you, bring in some greenery. It is always a good idea to decorate your home with indoor plants and flowers. In an instant, they can transform a space. To get some plants or flowers, visit your local nursery or buy them online. Consider hanging vines, creating a plant stand from an empty cart, or creating terrariums. In addition, a faux plant can also be a great way to add a touch of chic decor to your bedroom at an affordable price.
